Nashville has been named one of Kiplinger.com’s 12 Great Cities to Retire -- a look at the best cities to pursue a happy and healthy lifestyle. The list was compiled for the article Great Places to Retire for Your Good Health a look at 12 cities that give residents opportunities to "get fit, eat well, enrich your brain and sometimes simply kick back."

The article took into account a number of factors, such as recreation and other amenities tailored to retirees and those with an active lifestyle, as well as easy access to pharmacies and great hospitals. Nashville was featured in the middle of the list at number 6 with a nod to its quiet old Nashville neighborhoods, such as Sylvan Park.

The article also referred to Nashville's country music scene to which we can also add Nashville's active Christian music scene and church activities as recreation for active retirees.
